MAYAH HERLIHY

Mayah Herlihy is a singer/songwriter from North Lanarkshire. She has been performing on the Scottish music scene since April 2019. Since then, Mayah has performed in various Glasgow venues such as the iconic King Tut’s, Wah Wah Hut, The Classic Grand and Room 2 and played many festivals. Mayah has been writing her own songs since she was 12 and released her debut single ‘On My Way’ in January 2021. This reached the Number 1 position in The UK iTunes and Amazon Country Charts with articles from Aberdeen to Glasgow in The Press Journal, The Daily Record, Glasgow Evening Times and Glasgow Live, a radio interview and airplay from Kaye Adams on BBC Radio Scotland, a feature on BBC Scotland’s The Nine show and STV and a letter from the MP David Linden (Glasgow East) who said he had played it in the Houses of Parliament after hearing of its success. It was also included in the King Wah Wah Hut International Women s Day Spotify playlist. Mayah’s second single, ‘Follow the Sunshine’, was released in March and peaked at Number 2 in the UK Country Charts and saw Mayah become the youngest ever musician to become Single of The Week on the BBC Radio Scotland’s The Afternoon Show (confirmed live on air). Mayah made her first music video for ‘Follow the Sunshine’ which showcased her acting skills honed from performing in many pantomimes and theatre productions since the age of 7. This attracted the attention of Scottish singer/songwriter Becci Wallace who asked her to star in her video for her single ‘Focus’. Mayah’s third single, ‘Your Fight’, was released in June and saw her claim her second Number 1 on the Amazon Music UK Country Charts Best Sellers and Hot New Releases. A phenomenal achievement for a fourteen-year-old! Mayah wrote the song for her cousin Mel who was sadly diagnosed with Leukaemia in 2019 and is, thankfully, now in remission. All proceeds from the song went to the Beatson Cancer Charity. Mayah also helped to raise more money for the Beatson by completing the following triple physical challenge in June; Off The Beatson Track (a 10km walk), The Kilt Walk 23 mile The Mighty Stride route and climbing Ben Nevis. Mayah’s fourth single, ‘Where I’m Supposed to Be’, was released in October making it her 3rd Number 1 in the UK Country Charts. Mayah has continued to be recognised by the music industry at a UK wide level when she became a finalist in the UK Country Music Awards for UK Female Artist of the Year and the Top Award UK Country Artist of the Year, she also became a finalist in the Radio Wigwam Awards 2021 and the British Country Music Association Awards 2021 and is currently a finalist in the Best Newcomer category in the Belles and Gals UK Spotlight Awards 2021. Mayah has been busy since restrictions have allowed musicians to perform to live audiences again with festival appearances at Capers In Cannich, the Soundwave All Dayer, Vibration Festival, Prest Fest, True North, EH6 Festival and the 01475 Winter festival and has lots of more gigs and festivals lined up for 2022! Mayah is now releasing her fifth single, ‘Hometown Girl’ on 28th January 2022. This song is based upon Mayah’s childhood which was spent in the town of Peterhead just north of Aberdeen.
